Thanks, but No, Thanks!

Why do people feel the need to tell you how to raise your child?
I was in the grocery store today with Lil Gbear picking out some quality baby food flavors….mmmmm sweet potatoes and corn … when an older woman commented on how cute he was. Politely thank her, thinking the exchange has ended, when she decides to start speaking to Gbear in a typical baby talk voice… “oh look how cold your little feetsies must be, tell your momma you need some socks” She then proceeded to tell me how red his feet must be and I really should cover them up.
Gee. Thanks. I love parenting advice from strangers.
And for your information, his feet turn red when they are too hot. Purple if he’s cold. He had socks on and wanted none of it, because guess what, it’s in the 60’s and sunny today. Not quite bundle up weather.
Don’t get me wrong, I by no means pretend to know everything when it comes to raising children. I’ve been learning as I go and I am the first person to ask for advice when I’m unsure about something. But when I want advice, I’ll ask my pediatrician. Or my Mom. Or my MIL. Or even you lovely bloggers. Not someone who is shopping in the cookie aisle at the grocery store.
So thanks, but no thanks for your advice!

Ohh gosh, I wish I had your tolerance! I would have flashed her a dirty look that would make her run off crying. Is it just me or are elderly people worse?

I wish I could have had some back up from you ladies, I always just get flustered and think of all my witty comebacks later haha.
