The Shoes. The Hair. The Nails. The Dress.
On your average day, you’ll likely find me in ballet flats,
a messy bun, chipped nails, and jeans, but being married to a military man, I
get a few opportunities to dress up and have my Cinderella evenings.
This year, I had not only one evening of glamour, but two.
For me, it’s not just about the evening, but the hunt for the dress, the searching Pinterest for hair ideas, finding some stellar shoes. I’m a bargain hunter too,
so not only do I want to feel pretty, but I want to do it on a dime. {I do my hair myself and have a $100 rule for dresses- not to mention I recycle them when I can}
I look forward to these evenings every year. A chance to
feel pretty and drool over my handsome husband all spiffed up, but it’s not
just about the look. It’s about a chance to celebrate and honor my husband and
his accomplishments. It’s about sharing moments with friends. And let’s not kid
ourselves, it’s about having an evening out now and again without a three year
old tagging along!
Most days I’m perfectly happy being down to earth and wear
and tear, but from time to time, I love puttin’ on the Ritz.
